A Dinosaur Quiet Book for Peanut

Peanut has a small  BIG obsession with dinosaurs. We have lots of little model dinosaurs around the house as well as some skeleton models we’ve put together. Don’t even get me started on the number of dinosaur books we have. It’s an impressive collection for a 3-year-old.

So, when thinking about creating a quiet book for Peanut, the obvious theme was dinosaurs. Roar!  I hope you enjoy seeing what I came up with! It was a lot of fun, and took FOREVER to finish. I started the book just before my daughter was born and didn’t finish it until much after…like at least 6 months later.

The cover is simple, with a small dinosaur egg on the bottom corner. The little baby dinosaur that goes in the egg is missing in action – not sure where it got to! It’ll turn up sooner or later.

The book has 3 pages total. Each page has its own unique theme.

There are items to move and manipulate on each page. The first page features a red Tyrannosaurus Rex. He’s all sewn down except for the head, that way he can eat a fish! There are two move-able fish. The one in the waterfall can also hide behind the water if he wants. Then, behind one of the palm tree leaves, a dragon fly is hiding.

Then, the volcano page! A night scene, this page shows a large dinosaur and features a hidden egg with a baby dinosaur inside.

Finally, The last page is actually a crocodile, but since Peanut enjoys studying dinosaurs, we learned that some creatures similar to dinosaurs also lived during prehistoric times. So, I combined the crocodile with the importance of brushing teeth. There’s also a fun little frog who can “catch” the flies with his tongue.

Peanut enjoys coming up with all kinds of stories using his quiet book. The toothbrush gets used for Tyrannosaurus Rex as well and sometimes the baby dinosaurs end up in the crocodile’s mouth!

I’d love to hear your thoughts and see your quiet books! What theme would you use for your child?
